Parking Ordinance

New Parking Ordinance

Effective April 2, 2024

A new parking ordinance will be implemented on April 2, 2024. Vehicles will only be allowed to park on one side of the street. The designated side will switch on the first day of each month.

The new Residential Street Parking Ordinance prohibits parking on some specific neighborhood streets, and allows Odd-Even Parking on other streets.

Parking is prohibited on the major thoroughfares. A list of these roads is in the ordinance as well as available at the Port Wentworth Police Department.

On most streets in residential areas, you will be allowed to park on the side of the street with even addresses in even months (Feb, April, June, etc.), and on the side of the street with odd addresses in odd months (Jan, March, May, etc.).

Yes. The City will be installing new signs at all neighborhoods and residential areas informing residents of the new rules.

The new ordinance allows the Police to write a warning or a citation.

A parking violation citation could range from $75 to $500, depending on how many previous citations you have been issued. The City may also tow your vehicle if it is deemed a public safety hazard or is a habitual violator.

If you have any additional question, please contact the Port Wentworth Police Department’s non-emergency number 912-964-4360. The new ordinance is City Code § 13-50, et seq.
