Volunteer Opportunities
The Port Wentworth Parks and Recreation youth programs are made possible by the dedication and commitment of our volunteer coaches and team parents. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, for any of the sports shown above, please contact Tiffany Lancaster at 912-966-7428 or send an email to tlancaster@portwentworthga.gov.
The Port Wentworth Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of sports programs for youth of all ages that are designed to promote sportsmanship, development and fun.

Due to the onset of the Coronavirus COVID-19, strict measures have been put in place to protect the health and safety of Port Wentworth staff, volunteers and those participating in various leisure activities/youth sports. With this in mind, parents and youth participants are encouraged to read the City of Port Wentworth Parks and Recreation Department Plan for Returning to Play by clicking here. Team sports fees are $65 per participant for Port Wentworth residents and $85 per participant for non-residents.
2024 Fall Sports Practice ScheduleThe City of Port Wentworth youth basketball program teaches technique, sportsmanship, fundamentals, and rules. It also gives our Port Wentworth youth the opportunity to learn competition.
Micro basketball is offered for both girls and boys of all age groups and is played as a co-ed team.
Teams
Micro Basketball for ages 3, 4 & 5 starts in the month of January.
The 8 & under, 10 & under, and 12 & under teams start the 3rd week of November.
The 14 & under team starts in the month November.
Practices are held twice a week and will be announced as teams are formed.

REGISTRATION
Registration is $65 per player for Port Wentworth residents and $85 per player for non-residents. Don't miss the deadline of March 1, 2025 to register for the 2025 season!Play Ball! The City of Port Wentworth Parks and Recreation Department offers a baseball, softball and t-ball league for ages 3 thru 15. All teams are played in conjunction with the Coastal Athletic Association.
The purpose of this program is to emphasize skill development, fair play, sportsmanship, and fun. Registration begins mid-January of each year.
Teams
Baseball / Softball 8 & Under (Ages 7 & 8)
10 & Under (Ages 9 & 10)
12 & Under (Ages 11 & 12)
T-ball Ages 3, 4, & 5
Age control dates: Baseball is prior to May 1st.
Softball is prior to January 1st.
Practice starts mid-March. Days and times will be announced through the coaches.
The City of Port Wentworth will provide games pants, jersey and hat. Players will need to bring their own glove and cleats.

The Port Wentworth Leisure Services Department offers a youth recreational cheerleading program for children ages 6 to 12 that is designed to support our youth football league.
The program is structured in a fun, non-competitive and recreational environment. Each season begins in mid-August and continues through mid-November with games and practices primarily held at Mobley Park.
The age cutoff date is prior to August 1st.

Experience one of the finest football leagues in the area!
The Port Wentworth Patriots Youth Football program is available to children ages 7 to 12 and is organized to teach the basic fundamentals and knowledge of the game of football.
The program promotes that all players in attendance at a game must execute a minimum of one play. Players are selected through a player placement workout, which creates parity throughout the league.
Each season begins in mid-August and continues through mid-November with games and practices primarily held at Mobley Park.
Cost for the program is $65 per participant for Port Wentworth residents and $85 per participant for non-residents. This fee includes an official league jersey and athletic shorts.
The age cutoff date is prior to August 1st.
Come join our youth soccer program for boys and girls ages 5 to 13 years old. Players will improve their dribbling, shooting, passing, and teamwork.
Spring Season
The Spring season runs from early March through the middle of May. The deadline to register for Spring 2024 season is March 1, 2024.

Registration is accepted anytime during the session. The registration fee for Port Wentworth residents is $65.00 per child and $85.00 per child for non-residents.A $10.00 late fee will be assessed if registering after a session has started.

Spring Volleyball
Ages: 10-14
Practices will be every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-7:30pm and will be located in our gym at 101 Turnberry St, Port Wentworth, GA 31407.
Games will be played in Pooler.
The City of Port Wentworth offers a progressive approach to learning gymnastics. We strive to develop healthy minds and bodies with skills and movements designed to build strength, flexibility, and coordination.
Instructor Melissa Devenney, former SC Competitive Gymnast, has been offering gymnastics programs for the Port Wentworth Leisure Services Department for several years. Melissa is a Marine Veteran and has her Bachelor of Science in Tactical Strength and Conditioning. She started the City of Port Wentworth’s first competitive gymnastics team in May 2022 and is very passionate about our gymnastics program.
Classes
- Mommy & Me Class for ages 1 to 3, meets once a week for 30 minutes
- Littles Gymnastics Class for ages 3 to 4, meets once a week for 30 minutes
- Beginner Gymnastics Class for ages 5 to 9, meets once a week for 45 minutes
- Intermediate Gymnastics Class for ages 6 to 10, meets once a week for 1 hour and is invite ONLY
- Team classes are invite ONLY – they are our competitive team
Registration is required to participate in each session.
Class availability is on a first come, first served basis.
