Statement From The City Of Port Wentworth

PORT WENTWORTH – OCTOBER 11, 2023 – The Port Wentworth Police Department is working on an active death investigation for a shooting, which took place at 11.57 a.m. on Wednesday October 11.

Steve Davis, City Manager for the City of Port Wentworth, said, “It is a sad day for Chatham County residents whenever a life is lost through violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim.”

The police investigation is in its early stages and Asst. Chief R.M. Walters Snr. will provide more information as it becomes available.
